Vacation Rentals: A New Concept on Accommodation

Posted in Travel on January 13th, 2011 by admin

Paris has been ranked as among the three most important influential cities in the world. It is one of the world’s leading business and cultural centers today. That is why it is not a wonder why it is now the leading tourist destination.

A Paris stay used to be a symbol of luxury and grandeur; until vacation rentals became a popular travel option in Europe. Vacation rental is a term in the travel industry which means renting out a furnished apartment on a temporary basis as an alternative to hotel accommodation. It is also called holiday homes or short stay apartments. An accommodation in a Paris vacation rental has greatly changed the people’s perception about a holiday vacation in the said place.

Vacation rentals are fully furnished property equipped with facilities and amenities. Usually each unit has one to two rooms with bath, a living room and a kitchen furnished with appliances. Vacation rentals can be an apartment, a town house or a single detached home or cottage.

The more popular type of accommodation in Paris is the holiday apartment. These apartments are usually located in strategic places or near the main streets so that clients will have easier access to tourists’ spots and major modes of transportation. There are also paris holiday apartments which are located in less populated areas to cater the needs of visitors who prefer a more quiet environment.

Paris holiday apartments are available for rent on a nightly, weekly and monthly basis. The traveller or the guest arranges to rent the property for a predetermined length of time. They can make reservations online, through a travel agency or by the time that they are already in Paris. But the last option doesn’t always guarantee that one would get the desired rental as such type of accommodation has become the preference of the many.

A stay in a Paris vacation rental is more appealing for many reasons. Top reasons include: savings on cost, more space, no taxes or service charges and no tips. It is also appealing for those who are interested to experience a true Parisian way of life as they get to live in a real neighbourhood and get to deal more often with the locals. Other benefits include convenient locations and greater privacy.

Vacation rentals are available from budget studio apartments to grand and expensive villas with all the luxuries that you can find in a hotel. There may be some concerns about staying in vacation rentals but the benefits outweigh the potential negatives. Vacation rentals or holiday apartments are always the smarter and cheaper choice in terms of accommodation in Paris.

Presettlement Funding: How It Works?

Posted in Business on November 12th, 2010 by admin

Litigation usually takes a long time. Some cases drag on for years. In cases involving accident, the injured person is unable to work, has reduced income or has expenses associated with care or disability. Some lawyers extend some help in terms of legal expenses associated with litigation but others don’t. One time or another, the plaintiff or the complainant runs out of money to get by and it may not be possible to wait until the court arrives on a final decision.

It is in this situation that presettlement funding acts like a lifeline for injured person who is undergoing a long litigation process. When everything has been done, presettlement funding is there to provide a legal cash advance. Presettlement funding usually comes in the form of non-recourse cash advances provided to the injured person in return for a promise to repay the advance after the lawsuit ended favourable. “Non-recourse” means that an injured person does not have to repay the advance if they are unsuccessful in the lawsuit. They only have to repay up to the amount of their share of the settlement in the event that the settlement is smaller than expected. Because of the risk involved, the fees associated with presettlement funding are quite significant. That is why it is considered as the last resort.

What are the processes involved and how does one obtain a legal cash advance?

1. An injured person or the plaintiff contacts a company that offers legal funding. The lawyer sometimes suggests a company for his client.

2. The finance company will then contact the lawyer who is handling the case and obtains information about the case.

3. Based on the information provided, the loan company estimates the value of the likely settlement and offers a cash advance to the injured person based on the estimate. The fee may be a flat fee or a monthly fee that accrues each month the loan is outstanding.

4. When the case is settled, the defendant pays after losing in court; the finance company is paid with the loan and associated fees; and the plaintiff receives whatever is left on the money awarded by the court.

When the verdict is smaller than anticipated, the amount that must be repaid to the legal fund company must never exceed the amount that the injured person received as verdict or settlement. Thus companies are very careful with their offers. Amounts vary significantly, depending on the nature of the case and the company involved.

Presettlement funding is a non-recourse lending that is why companies choose their cases carefully to minimize risks. Once they offer you a legal cash advance, it means that they believe that you will receive money from your lawsuit. It is advised that you check on several companies in order to obtain the most favourable terms for cash advancement in personal injury settlements.

Understanding Dry Mouth Symptoms and Cancer

Posted in oral disease on November 5th, 2010 by admin

Dry mouth symptoms are often not related to cancer, but in some situations, they can be. The good news is that dry mouth is not an indication that you may have cancer. It cannot cause you to have cancer, either. While that is good news, it is still important to understand what this condition is and how it can be treated. It is just as important to understand how this condition may be related to the cancer you have or may be treating.

How Cancer Causes Dry Mouth Symptoms

In many cases, dry mouth is a side effect of a medication or an underlying condition. This is how it relates to cancer. In short, those who have the condition dry mouth, also known medically as xerostomia, are likely to feel a constant thirst or a dry, cracked mouth and lips. This condition is a side effect often attributed to the treatments used to treat cancer. Consider the follow occurrence of dry mouth in people who are receiving cancer treatment.

• You may experience dry mouth symptoms from the medications used to treat cancer. Specifically, the pain medications, diuretics, pain medications and anti depressants you may be taking may have dry mouth as a side effect.

• Radiation therapy also has dry mouth symptoms as a common side effect. This occurs when the salivary glands are affected by the radiation they are exposed to. If your salivary glands are exposed to radiation, it is quite possible that dry mouth will become a lifelong problem for you. While some function may return over time, it is rare for the salivary glands to completely be restored after exposure.
• Conditions such as a fungal infection in the mouth, like candidiasis or dehydration, can lead to dry mouth symptoms. In this case, it may or may not be associated with your cancer condition.

If you are being treated for cancer or are taking common cancer treatment medications, it is best to consult with your doctor if you begin to experience constant dry mouth symptoms. This is especially necessary in situations where your conditions worsen over time or when they are so severe that the symptoms are causing potential infections from the cracked lips or open sores. In some cases, doctors can offer other medications that do not lead to these painful effects, or may offer a treatment for dry mouth that resolves the problem. Dry mouth symptoms may range from a simple nuisance to a severe problem.

However, unless you’re writing an article about something relatively simple, there really is no short cut in learning to write. There is much more involved with writing a newspaper article than you might think.

And you can’t write anewspaper article without learning to write a good, solid sentence first. It’s surprising how many people will just write on and on when they could communicate what they want to say in just a few well-chosen words. If you want to get an article into a newspaper, you’ll have to avoid this run-on kind of writing because no editor in the world will accept your piece if it shows signs of rambling. Editors look for concise writing that uses as few words as possible to get the point across. Here’s a tip. Once you think you’ve finished your feature article, go back and cut out at least one-third of it. You’ll be surprised how many words you’ve written are unnecessary, and this approach will ensure that your article will be accepted the first time you submit it to the editor.

Newspaper writing is not the only kind of writing that might interest you, but all types of writing require skill. For example, you might think that writing advertising copy will be easy. However, you still need to apply the principles of good, solid writing to this field. If you want to write advertising copy, you still need to learn how to do it. You can’t just dive into it and expect to succeed when you don’t know what you’re doing.

Whatever you decide to write, there are some steps that you should always follow. First, take your time and make sure your writing is clear and concise. If you are writing for a newspaper, go back over your writing and cut it by one-third. When you’re finished, have someone that you trust read it over to check for spelling and grammar errors as well as to see if it flows well. Then you’ll have a better idea of whether or not your article is good.

The History of Newsweek Magazine

Posted in Featured articles on November 20th, 2009 by admin

Now bigger than life and ultimately credible, there is no literate person on earth who has not heard of Newsweek Magazine. However, before all the awards and accolades along with the public trust it has gained, there is a colorful history which marks the rise of a small publication to one that will sweep the world off its feet.

On February 17, 1933, the first issue of this news magazine was far from the colorful and astounding publication we all read today. All it had on the cover were seven pictures from the headlines of that week. Inside, were interpretative stories, signed columns and other international editions. As time progressed and the readership got bigger, the News-Week magazine founded by Thomas J.C Martin became bigger by the second.

In 1937, new leadership gave the news magazine a much needed boost. It all happened when Malcolm Muir took charge as editor in Chief and President of the publication. One of his first moves was top change the news magazines name to Newsweek, abolishing the hyphen, which made the name look too complicated. After that, the popularity of Newsweek Magazine became quite phenomenal. In ten years, this news magazine grew into what can be perceived as a classic replica of what it has become today.

In fact, it became so big, that the Washington Post Company purchased Newsweek in 1961. It is during that time that it cemented its status as one of the most liberal publications of the era. Its growth continued until it became the big fish that it has become today.

Through the years, Newsweek has also has accumulated quite a number of controversies. Some of the more groundbreaking and sometimes, earth rattling articles received mixed reactions. Some of them were controversial exposes on Guantanamo Bay Islamic injustice, the best high schools in America and other war stories. These heated, controversial and impressively liberal stories on war focused on American waged wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As of now, Newsweek stands mightily on the pedestal of journalistic success. It is known to reach worldwide circulation of no less than four million copies a year, including 3.1 million copies syndicated in the U.S alone. It also employs multilingual publishing practices as shown in their Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian and Arabic editions. It also operates with more than 17 bureaus reaching as far as Paris and Tokyo. It has even produced its own Radio show called Newsweek on Air.

There is no telling what lies in store for the behemoth of the publishing world. Whatever this leader in the news industry decides to embark on next will undoubtedly be ahead of the rest of the pack.
