In the 80’s, periodontics has distinguished itself by the advent of new procedures (surface treatment, guided tissue regeneration) and techniques (tunneling, root amputation, hemisection) to defer the maximum loss of Dental body. The origin of the development of these techniques was certainly the difficulties and risks of fixed or removable prosthesis on periodontium reduced. It was therefore necessary to maintain at all costs.
It was not counting on the development of implant techniques, which have led to the replacement of one-time dental body without risk to the adjacent teeth.
The inverted pendulum then why keep when we had a reliable solution to replace lost teeth?
Time and literature, however, have clearly indicated that the restoration implant-span were not free of complications, particularly in patients with periodontal disease.
Meanwhile knowledge about the disease and their treatment modalities have evolved offering new perspectives for the conservation of periodontal damage teeth.

The issue of conservation or extraction was therefore once again found at the center of the debate.

At the time of implant, mobile teeth, those with injuries or endo-periodontal attachment loss and bone loss are they immediately condemned? Should the contrary continue to fight to keep those teeth?

The question is essential and the answer bears heavy consequences. It implies a complex decision-making process that can not simply rest upon dogmatic positions but, on the contrary, requires that a number of criteria be taken into account, including the prognosis for the individual tooth, the nature of the periodontal disease, the patient ’s motivation, and the overall treatment plan set for this particular patient.
It is necessary in order to integrate the decision-making process into the treatment plan to determine at what moment the decision should be taken, and which precise parameters, in relation to the tooth and to the patient, should be considered to make the decision.
Except in specific situations (low Subgingival fracture, endodontic prognosis), the fundamental decisive parameters in relation to the tooth should be the degree of attachment loss and the degree of bone loss. These parameters however are not sufficient, as the decision to save the tooth must be weighed against the patient’s overall treatment plan, particularly if a prosthetic treatment is required.

If you can sell a product to consumers through marketing techniques, we can also sell political ideas and politicians using similar techniques. That is what is based marketing policy. Is it a danger to democracy as a means or another of promoting political ideas?

How does the Marketing Policy
The marketing policy is to determine the expectations of voters or a group of voters through polls or groups of compounds reflections panels voter targets, and then build a policy that correspond to their expectations and encourage them to vote for the candidate chosen. The policies are no longer elected for their ideas, but part of a political strategy as they try to create a positive image and mount the perfect programme which will please the greatest number. The policy is therefore a genuine Thursday therefore the only goal is to win to take power.

But while the commercial marketing based on market research to create its advertising campaigns, marketing policy it is based on opinion polls to create its propaganda campaign. The publicity or propaganda are positioning themselves as a source of information and assistance in making choices facing the abundance of products or candidates.

The Politician as the product model
In the political marketing, every politician is a brand building to the public. Once an image is built, it will be able to become the flagship product of a party and represent him. Thus, the politician is no longer the incarnation of his ideas and his plans for life, he must represent the views of the majority of the population. His style becomes much more important than his words.

Why just watch Sarkozy shocked both the public and becomes a source of debate?

Some marketing specialists argue that Barrack Obama could win the Democratic nomination thanks to its ability to invest in marketing policy. Indeed, the logo campaign that is worthy of a great company. Parllament, Hillary Clinton’s Democratic rival has no official logo. The logo as a tactic of political marketing?

The voter is it a consumer?
If one accepts that marketing policy aims to sell ideas or politicians, in this case we must also admit that voters are consumers. But what they actually consume? They consume dreams, hopes of a better world, each with a vision of a better world for both individual, for oneself, and collective, for the nation. To these consumers hope, we must sell a candidate sufficiently large number so it can take power.

The consumer-voter is therefore influenced insofar as it is relatively ignorant. For John Quelch, a marketing professional of the USA, 20% of Americans pay special attention to politics while the remaining 80% of potential voters have no time to spend, do not see the Interest or do not see any significant difference between the candidates. The latter, the ill-informed voters are the prime target of political marketing because they are potentially in search of political ideas. Precisely, marketing specialists are there to provide.

In this context, the fight against abstention is mainly an invitation to speak to those who n’ys’y not interest them. A abstentionist who vote for the first time are more impressionable.

Marketing policy to ensure social cohesion?
Assuming that the political marketing has a real influence on public opinion and control of elections; Is this necessarily bad for the general interest and democracy?

Edward Bernays, the forerunner of political marketing and founder of the public institutional propaganda claims that the manipulation of public opinion is necessary to preserve democracy and social cohesion. In his 1928 book Propaganda, it claims that:
“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this mechanism is an invisible invisible government which is the real driving force of our country… We are governed, our minds are forged, dictated our tastes, our ideas suggested largely by men we heard I liked. It is a logical outcome of how our democratic society is organized. Many people must cooperate in this way insofar as they must live together in a company operating in the most fluid possible… In almost all our activities of daily life, whether in politics or business Our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by a relatively small portion of people… who are the mental process and pattern of social masses. It is they who pulling the strings that control public opinion… ”

Thus, the political marketing according Bernays is used by a certain elite “good thinking” including the functioning of the psychology of the masses to preserve a calm social climate. But also, understandably, to ensure a place at the top of the social hierarchy.

Recall that Bernays, a nephew of Sigmund Freud, was originally a campaign Torches of Freedom on behalf of the company’s Lucky Strike. At the time, in 1929 women were not allowed to smoke in public. The idea was for a feminist event to introduce some models currently smoke cigarettes in public. The media were on hand and swiftly cigarette was associated among women in an act of liberation. Smoking became a symbol of protest and cigarette companies could expand their market. Joseph Goebbels the infamous minister of propaganda under the Nazi regime in Germany also drew heavily on its work.

The future of Marketing Policy
The use of Marketing policy is in direct correlation with the funds allocated to a political campaign. Indeed, marketing operations that are political analysis of public opinion, the eve politics, the design of messages and political arguments and the establishment of communication with the media coutent dearly. If companies can afford such expenses, this is not necessarily the case with political organizations. In determining the ceiling of expenditure during election campaigns for political parties, it minimizes the use of political marketing and hence the potential risks that may be involved. In France, CSA (Conseil Superior de l’Audiovisuel) prohibits any communication policies pay and television appearances are strictly regulated between each candidate. There are still gaps as big parties coverage at times of strong listening while smaller parties are relayed to hours of listening less.

In countries like the USA where there is no ceiling on donations to a political party, the political marketing can take place extremely important. It also believes that American political parties spend on average $ 20 per American advertising for the presidential campaign of 2008. A sum may seem considerable, but is weak in relation to the issues that are disputed.

Among other because we must give time to people like the candidate that France be politician is a profession, a career. Meanwhile, the USA image of a candidate lambda can be created within a few months thanks to advertising campaigns carried out well.

In short, the political marketing seems to have a bright future in the world. While in France he will never equal importance elsewhere, we note that it is on the Internet that will most likely grow to the extent that it is a little controlled media. Moreover, is on the web that political marketing techniques can be done at lower cost… The debate remains wide. What do you think personally of political marketing?

Experts from the White House have probably misled about the potential enthusiasm of African capitals to host the headquarters of Africom. This new initiative of President George W. Bush wants a draft bulwark against terrorist groups which are beginning to worry the interests “Yankee” in the continent. Moreover, the problem of accommodation of this command is the only block that prevents the deployment of the system. Most African States remain concerned over the future implications of such an initiative.

“I am pleased today to share my decision to establish within the Ministry of Defence a Unified Command of the Armed Forces for Africa. “This is how the American president decided on the creation of Africom in a statement released on February 6. He describes it as a way which will serve to strengthen cooperation with Africa on security and we will offer new ways to enhance the capabilities of our partners in Africa. We will intensify our efforts to bring peace and security to the peoples of Africa and promote our common goals of development, health, education, democracy and economic growth in Africa. “.

The bright prospects as identified by the American president have, for now, not been sufficient to convince African heads of state on a possible acceptance of hosting the headquarters of the Africa Command (Africom).

The decisions of rejection and distrust have not been waiting on the African continent. It was at the northern continent, the Maghreb, an area that is currently most affected by terrorist movements, that the project will create the initial reluctance. The decision of the Libyan President, Moammar Gaddafi, has not surprised many people, particularly because of cold that freezes always US-Libyan relations since decades now, despite some attempts at rapprochement have been noted recently.

The Algerian president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, also declined the U.S. offer. This declination is the result, according to him, a lack of information about the very existence of the American project. Also, the Algerian authorities accuse have not been made aware in time, which gives them a reason to deny the choice of Algiers as the seat of Africom. And even if it was informed in time, it is not certain that President Bouteflika is favourable to the proposal because as he said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper ABC: “we are not qualified to decide the place of Africa “.

This refusal may be regarded as major reasons for political strategy. Indeed, Algeria, refused this offer, seems to reiterate its desire to assert itself facing the major powers. Recall that recently, President Bouteflika made a serious criticism against French authorities he accuses of suffering from “mental blindness”.

At the strategic level, the presence of the GSPC (Salafiste Group for Preaching and Combat), which has become since January 2007 Al-Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb (AQMI), does not facilitate the choice of Algiers as the seat of command. The acceptance of this proposal could aggravate the already worrying situation in Algeria.

Morocco, considered the country closest to Washington, also remains opposed to this idea. The Egypt has not been asked because it is already part of the command centre of the central USA.

The disappointment of emissaries from Washington may not last. After this failure in the Maghreb, is still exploring the Sub-Saharan Africa. And it is highly probable that this proposal is acquirer in this part of the continent if we consider the weight of Washington’s decisions on many of its African allies. But for the moment, most remain cautious and we wonder what good are the tools of pressure that Washington has in its armada in the event of widespread refusal. But the probability is very low and we can expect a transfer of command, currently in Stuttgart, Germany, to the tropics by the beginning of operations that are scheduled for September 2008.

According to some sources close to Washington, the runway of the decentralization of command of Africom would be under consideration. But this might not always ensure a favourable reception to the project if the provisions are not taken to allay fears of terrorist attacks and political interference which, presumably, justifying (or motivate) most of refusal.

Healthy Beliefs, Support Network May Be Part of the Reason Why

Religion appears to soothe the body as well as the soul, as people who are highly religious tend to live longer than others, a review of more than 40 scientific studies has found.

In fact, overall, the people who were most involved in their religions were 29% more likely to be alive when the various studies were completed than were their nonreligious counterparts.

Exactly how religious involvement boosts health is unclear, the researchers say. But given the findings, they write, future research should focus on the precise way that religion extends life. The report was published in the journal Health Psychology.

“Some people believe that religious involvement instills healthy beliefs and behaviors,” Michael E. McCullough, PhD, who did the research while at the National Institute for Healthcare Research in Rockville, Md., tells WebMD. For example, religious people tend to smoke and drink less, and may be slightly less obese than nonreligious people.

“They also receive a lot of positive social support that helps them to cope with stress,” says McCullough, who is now an associate professor of psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Finally, “religion helps people to develop a coherent set of beliefs about the world that help them to make sense of their stress and suffering,” he says. “All of these factors are probably at least partially responsible for the links between religious involvement and health.”

And that’s good news for the more than 90% of American adults who are affiliated with some type of formal religion, and the nearly 96% who believe in God or a universal spirit.

The review examined 42 studies of the link between religious involvement and mortality, involving a total of 126,000 people. Researchers collected information on how often participants attended church or temple, whether they were a member of a religious organization, and how much time they spent engaged in religious activities. They also assessed “private religious involvement,” which included how religious the participants said they were, the frequency with which they prayed in private, and their use of religion as a coping mechanism.

“There are a number of possible ways that religion can be self-enhancing,” says Redford Williams, MD, director of the behavioral medicine research center at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C., and author of the book Lifeskills.

“At least part of what is going on is social support,” he tells WebMD. “The health-enhancing effects of social support are well-documented and someone who is participating with others on an ongoing basis will gain that benefit,” he says, noting that people who regularly participate in religious activities often interact with others.

Another positive effect of religion on health may come from following the core teachings of major religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and some of the Eastern religious philosophies, he suggests.

For example, the teachings of many religions — such as treating others the way you would like to be treated, and loving your neighbor — make a person less likely to have stressful relations with others, Williams says.

Anthony Dekker, DO, associate director of the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, part of the Indian Health Service in Phoenix, Ariz., says he credits spirituality with helping people “live longer, live better, and die better.”

Dekker sees only Indian patients, and says as many as 90% of them are deeply spiritual.

“Spirituality is a critical aspect of quality of life and quality of dying,” he says.

Vital Information

People who are involved with religion tend to live longer, overall, than their nonreligious counterparts.

It’s unclear exactly why, but research suggests it may be partly a result of increased social support from other members of the religious organization.

Another possible factor is that core beliefs of major religions tend to encourage healthy lifestyles and foster positive social interactions.

I’d like to begin by wishing all my loyal readers a Happy New Year. Much health, happiness and, of course, success! It’s that time of the year again; the time when it seems everyone is trying to keep their New Year’s resolutions.

Some people want to join a gym and lose 20 pounds; others will try to quit smoking yet again. Some will promise to eat less chocolate or read more books. Whatever one’s resolution, it is not likely to be kept unless we work at it every single day.

step by step

For those of you that have more meaty resolutions: getting a promotion to divisional manager, increasing your company’s sales by 100% this year, putting your competitor out of business, increasing your market share, finding the woman of your dreams, etc., you will need to devise a plan if you want to get things done.

The point is that whatever you set your mind to, it won’t happen on its own and it will definitely not happen overnight, unless of course your resolution was to sleep all night! If you want to make your New Year’s resolutions come true, you will have to give them some serious thought and effort every day of the year.

The bigger the project, the less likely it is that you will be able to do everything at once. Let’s suppose your goal for the New Year is to earn more money — at least 10% more. You can’t just walk into the office and get that 10%; you’ll have to take steps to earn it.

persistence and consistency

Let’s suppose you work in sales, and you’re therefore paid on commission. One of the basic principles of selling is that the more doors you knock on, the more potential sales you will make.

If you are currently able to make 6 successful sales calls a day, or 30 sales calls a week, you would have to increase the number of calls by at least 10% to have a shot at increasing your revenue proportionally. Thus if you need to make 60 calls to get 6 successful ones, then you would have to make an extra 30 calls a week to meet your goal. That is, you’d make an average of about 5 additional calls per day to attain your 10% increase.

Why am I going into such detail, you ask? To illustrate the point that you will have to make an effort to reach your goals. Furthermore, you won’t be able to just make an extra 30 calls on Monday then forget about them for the rest of the week. You will have to give a consistent additional effort every single day to make it big.

What’s the best way to attain everything you want?

day by day

The best way to achieve anything big in life, perhaps the only way, is to take things step by step. Going back to our example above, you won’t just start calling more people every day. Before doing so, you will have to find the sales leads, study your prospects, come up with a tailored sales pitch, introduce yourself, get to know them and their needs, and only then can you pitch them your products (or services or ideas for that matter).

Thus, there is a lot of preparation and legwork that is involved and the best way to handle the workload is to work at it a little bit every day so as to not be overwhelmed. At first, you may only be able to make an additional 2 sales per day as you build and adjust to your new workload. As you get better, you’ll become more efficient and will be able to make the extra calls every day. Eventually, you will achieve your goal.

don’t get discouraged

Nothing that is worth achieving in this world will come easy. Get ready to put your nose to the grindstone and sweat it out because the road ahead is always roughest for the trailblazers.

You have to learn to build on every little victory because each win acts like fuel to your confidence and ability to achieve bigger and better things. If you start off slow and can’t convert that many sales calls to actual sales, don’t get down on yourself. Instead, figure out why things aren’t going as well as you’d like and come up with a modified plan.

Use the new plan and attack with full force. Keep doing this until you hit the nail on the head. It may take days, weeks, months, or even years before you get it right, but eventually you will get it right if you keep trying. Remember, Edison failed to create the light bulb thousands of times before getting it right!

recipe for success

Taking things step by step applies to any resolutions you’ve made. Suppose you were a little on the skinny side and wanted to gain 20 lbs of solid muscle. You wouldn’t be able to do it in one week. You would have to come up with a training routine, eating regimen and sleep schedule to get you started. You would have to decide how much you could gain each week and then devote each day to achieving part of your goal.

As you workout 4-5 times per week you will start noticing small changes in your body. After 2 months the changes will be very visible; after 6 months of steady training the results will be dramatic. The trick is to train your body a little at a time. You can’t just walk into a gym and bench press 300 lbs. You have to start at 150 lbs and work your way up. This same rule applies to any endeavor you choose to begin.

Remember, take it step by step, build on your small victories and never quit. Good luck & Happy New Year!

“Burning a candle at both ends.” This is an expression I heard years ago when a rock star was talking about his life. The “burning” he pointed to was caused by an excess of a sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. But burning out is something all too prevalent in sports, entertainment, business, and life.

what is a burnout?

New York psychologist Herbert J. Freudenberger, PhD., coined the term, referring to a state of fatigue or frustration caused by devotion to a cause, a lifestyle or an undertaking that did not reap the expected results.

What is key is not what defines a burnout, but rather who is more prone to burning out, what its causes are, how one can recognize it instead of denying it, and finally, how one can put out the fire and get his life back on track.

are you prone?

The same way we have Type A and Type B personalities, I believe that people can also be characterized as “pyros” and “aquas.” Aqua people (no real relationship to water signs in astrology) tend to be very laid-back, are content with the basics of life, and do not seek to push the envelope. Life can pass them by and they will not care, so long as their life is happy and joyous. The definition of happiness is subjective.

Pyros, on the other hand, are driven beyond the speed of light. They are not necessarily unhappy with their surroundings. Au contraire — it is because they seek a perpetually increasing level of happiness that they push the envelope. While they call time-out often (and some would suggest that their life is an endless recess), many see them as burning the proverbial candle at both ends.

These two categories are by no means scientific, they are meant to provide a framework or checklist for young professionals going forward in their careers, and lives. It is not a coincidence that many rock stars have burned out because of their reliance and abuse of drugs. While many so-called experts would like to extend this argument by saying that one category of young professionals is more prone to rely on drugs than another, for example, that is, in my humble opinion, false. I believe that both categories are just as likely to do drugs, but while one might do so for pure pleasure, the other may look to drug use for both pleasure and escapism.

rub two stones together

When it comes to why people burn out, the reasons are as endless and varied as the stars in the sky. After all, some people burn out because they work too long and too hard. All work and no play spells burnout, and no amount of “special Rolaids” will help the case. If anything, not understanding the real causes of burning out and instead relying on substances will only exasperate the problem, like it has done for many executives, entertainers and athletes that I will not name.

But what I will list are some of the reasons behind burnout:

Too much pressure and ambition, and insufficient resources or means to pull it off

Too little control, and not enough rewards

Poor senior management not recognizing true talent and efforts

Misguided criteria for determining promotion and compensation

General stress

Get a grip before you go up in smoke…

you better recognize

The bottom line is, it’s not a big deal if you live life at full throttle. After all, you only live once and since time flies, why not make the most of it? The key is to balance life: business with pleasure, 24/7. Otherwise, you will sit in your chair and wonder why you never have any fun, hate your job, and wish to stay in bed all day.

If you tend to suffer from tunnel vision, you may never realize that you have a problem. You will carry on and on and on until one day, you break down. The best thing to do is keep your ears open and your eyes focused on what others tell you. If your family is worried, that’s normal, they’re looking out for you because they love you; if your girlfriend is concerned, that’s also expected because she surely misses you; but if your friends are also sending you warning signs, maybe it’s because you are, in fact, headed down a path of distress. So pay attention when those who care for you give you a heads up — that way, you can blow out the flame before your social and emotional life goes up in smoke.

get your fix

Keep your lifestyle in check

The key to getting some control on the “fire” is to address your lifestyle. Do you ever work out? The gym is always good, although the “pyro” may consider being in an isolated gym a waste of time. If this is so, then gather some friends and fire away your competitiveness by playing a game of football, basketball, hockey, or soccer.

Eat healthy food

Another “easy” thing to do in order to keep your life burn-free is improve your diet. Sure, burgers and pizza are great, but a nice salad or bowl of fruit will help give you that energy when you’re burning the midnight oil, while junk food will only have the opposite effect.

Be aware of your threshold

Know your limits. That is the bottom line. If you can multitask, work at the speed of light and manage to get more on your plate, then keep doing what you have been doing — you will surely go places. But if you find that you can never finish what you start, drift off into space several times a day, and are becoming irritable and impatient in every aspect of your life, then call time-out — perhaps a temporary change of pace, self-analysis, and reality check are in order.

Years ago, I interviewed a young man for a position within my organization. I asked him what kind of income he expected to earn in his first year or two. He said, “$100,000 my first year, and at least a 50% increase in my second year.”

I countered by asking what the highest income he ever earned in a single year was. His reply: “$20,000.” I then asked him if he thought he was worth $100,000 a year. He hesitantly responded, “I don’t know, I think so.”

My last question, and the most important one was, “What do you plan to change about yourself to go from $20,000 a year, to $100,000 a year?”

His answer, “I don’t know.”

what are you worth?

You see, if a person considers himself a $20,000 a year person, he will never be worth $100,000 a year unless he makes some sort of change. There is always something that we can change. Any change we make will produce a different outcome in our lives.

Our income will rarely exceed our own personal beliefs or personal development. If it does, on some rare occasion, it will quickly return to where it was in a short period of time, that is, if we don’t make a change.

That’s why it is critical to have a plan for your own development, otherwise you’ll continue to produce the same results.

what’s so different?

In order to get something different in our lives, we must do something different. In order to do something different we must know what to do. And in order to know something different, we must at least suspect that our current methods need improvement, and we must be open to finding a better way.

We always do the best we can with what we know. On the other hand, some of us continue with our old ways knowing that there is a better way. Why? Because we’re comfortable with our old ways. After all, it’s what we know best. Changing would mean having to take a risk, to break out of our comfort zone.

The risk of breaking out of our comfort zone brings about our deepest fears. What if it doesn’t work? What if the opportunity I’m becoming involved in isn’t real? What if I can’t do it? What will others think of me being in this type of business?

It brings up the fear of failure. I’ve failed before, what if I do it again? It can even bring up the fear of success! If I’m successful, I may have to leave some of my friends behind.

where do you want to be?

In order to become and remain a success in any endeavor, there are two things that are required. First is knowing what’s got you “turned on” and second, is knowing what gets you “turned off.”

I refer to it as “vision” and “reality.” Knowing where you want to go and why is known as “vision,” and knowing what’s holding you back and why is “reality.” Your vision may be that you want to earn a million dollars, but the reality is that you don’t believe you can.

Having complete clarity is the place to start. Clarity is knowing where you’re going and being on target. The speed at which you accomplish your objective will always be based upon your own degree of clarity.

are we clear?

If you just can’t seem to get going, that means that you aren’t clear — something is holding you back. Your fear blocks your clarity, therefore, slowing you down, or in many cases, even immobilizing you.

Without being clear about what you want, it becomes impossible to take full advantage of any opportunity. The slightest element of doubt creates uncertainty, and uncertainty always creates lack of clarity. Lack of clarity produces tension, tension produces fear, and fear immobilizes.

Think of a time when you felt unclear, or when doubt was creeping in on you. Think of a time when you felt non-productive or stuck. That’s called being non-resourceful. Now think of a time when you really felt clear, when nothing could stop you. Everything seemed to work with ease; every answer was right there when you needed it. That’s being resourceful.

find the answers

The question should always remain, “Is what I’m thinking, feeling, or the action I’m taking moving me closer to, or further away from what I want in my life? Is it supportive or non-supportive? Is it resourceful or non-resourceful?” Every thought or feeling you have and every action you take either attracts the elements you need, or pushes them away.

It’s always a question of “honor.” Which do you “honor” the most; your vision of what you want to accomplish, or the “stuff” you find yourself wrapped up in? If you choose not to make the call because you are afraid of being rejected or afraid of what someone might think of you, it simply means you have chosen to “honor” your fear instead of your vision.

How resourceful are you?

How much time do you spend in a resourceful state each day? How much of your time is spent doing business and not worrying about tomorrow, or getting caught up in the past, or feeling fearful about some situation? Most people think that in order to be resourceful, all they need to do is just “think positive.” Positive thinking is like taking an aspirin for a headache. It may be a temporary fix to kill the pain, but it doesn’t get to the real cause of your headache.

What you really want to do is learn to deal with and move past your fears by getting to the real cause of the problem. What most are trying so hard to do is change their beliefs about what they can and cannot accomplish.

Here’s the way it works:

experiences = belief = feelings = behavior = results = thoughts = belief system

We continually attempt to change our beliefs with little or no success at all. After a while, in order to avoid the pain, we sink back to our old ways, back into that dreaded comfort zone.

snap out of it

Letting go is the answer, not pushing against. You can do all the “positive thinking” you want, but if you feel non-resourceful, you will produce a corresponding result. You need to learn to “let go” of what’s holding you back, so you can then remove the blocks.

Think for a moment about what’s holding you back. Doubt, worry, uncertainty, and lack of confidence are all fears that hold you back. Is there anything stopping you, or impairing your ability to be the best you can be?

You have to “intend” to let it go, you have to be “willing” to let it go, and you have to “commit” to let it go. On the other hand, to hang on to a non-resourceful feeling requires three things: Intention Willingness Commitment

Hanging on requires a tremendous amount of your energy, while “letting go” requires none at all.

Think about a past experience you’ve had; a failure or a bad experience you’ve endured. No matter how long you’ve been hanging on to it — whether it be 10 minutes or 40 years — the question should always be: “Does hanging on to it make me more or less productive?”

Positive thinking is not what you need; it’s self-observation, it’s waking up, it’s seeing the truth! Your thoughts choose your direction in life, but without self-knowledge through self-observation there is no foundation for correct thinking.

Without correct thinking, you have doubt, which creates uncertainty. Uncertainty produces a lack of clarity, and when you lack clarity, you have no intention. Without intention you don’t know what to focus your attention on. Self-observation creates reality.

the curtain is just opening

A clear vision and a clear reality are the keys to having the success you want and deserve. When you have a clear vision of what inspires you, and you have observed what holds you back, you then become one with your goal. With complete clarity, you can now focus your complete attention on what’s needed to create the results you desire.

One of the most important life lessons many of us were taught as children is that we should not place too much emphasis on what people think of us. But the sad truth is that, in business, image and first impressions do matter — they are the first elements on which people are judged.

When you walk into a board meeting for the first time, you want to make an influential and positive impression in order for colleagues to perceive you as befitting a specific image.

The idea is to develop a personality that best suits your professional position and model your M.O. (modus operandi) around it. Of course, you do not want to pretend to be someone you are not, as your true colors will eventually overshadow the fa硤e. Therefore, the following personalities and the traits they possess should be developed and honed if you plan on succeeding in business.

1- The Negotiator

When you walk into the boardroom, the way you carry yourself should immediately suggest your inclination for thoroughness.

Be diplomatic

You are a professional and nothing proves that more than diplomacy. A good negotiator understands that the road to success involves compromise. No one is ever going to get everything he wants without ruffling some feathers, so it is vital that concessions are made.

Be charismatic

You must be charismatic and show signs of empathy so as not to intimidate your colleagues. This way, you will be regarded as approachable, which is the goal of any good negotiator. How can you negotiate a deal when people are not comfortable talking to you?

Be a good communicator

Negotiating involves explaining the pros and cons to your audience so they can understand the various viewpoints at hand. You should therefore speak with confidence, have a mastery of the language, and use props to illustrate your point.

Be cool-headed

Whenever you are negotiating, you will no doubt run into differing opinions. A great negotiator is not swayed by intense debate. Consequently, you have to remain calm, avoid sweating or fidgeting, and be prepared to withstand the pressure with a smile.

Be open-minded

All professional mediators are flexible. Exercise your ability to understand the perspectives of others. On the other hand, you are there to pursue a personal agenda so to a certain extent, you must remain unyielding on your position.

2- The Leader

All great leaders should embody the following characteristics:

Be decisive

A good leader does not waver in the face of adversity. You must make firm decisions after carefully weighing any and all arguments presented to you. Be resolute in your thinking and demonstrate that you are a man of action.

Be proud

Upon entering any boardroom, you want others to instantly recognize that you are a leader. Dress the part with a meticulously chosen, high quality suit. In addition, your posture must reflect your steadfast attitude.

Be organized

A leader has all his ducks in a row. People look up to him because he knows where he is going and has taken the necessary steps to get there. You must master the art of time management.

Be knowledgeable

A leader becomes who he is because he has proven to others that he has a firm grasp over any given situation. If you are going to discuss something, make certain you are incredibly knowledgeable on the topic. If you are not well-informed, listen closely and keep your lips sealed. And believe it or not, sometimes pleading ignorance will garner you even more respect.

Be confident

Self-assurance is what makes a great leader great and inspires others to follow his lead. Speak with conviction and do not be afraid to speak your mind.

3- The Team Player

If you are the kind of person who prefers to use we rather than I when speaking, perhaps youre destined to be a team player.

Show you care

Make a point to remember the names of your co-workers. Furthermore, be generous with your good mornings and how are you. These simple gestures go a long way toward making others feel appreciated.

Be a good listener

Team players can easily conform to different people\’s personalities. Encourage others to open up and share their concerns with you. Listen effectively without interrupting. Take note of everyone\’s feedback and do not undermine anyone\’s opinion.

Give credit

You know there is no I in team, so you should recognize that every success is a communal effort. Value your co-workers\\\’ labor and be sure to bestow credit where credit is due. By the same token, do not be afraid to compliment your colleagues as it will serve to enhance the working environment.

Encourage creativity

Whenever you have the chance, promote vision within your group. Steer meetings toward helping others express themselves. Support collective creativity and you will reach mutual triumph.

4- The Trendsetter

If you dwell outside the realm of regular boundaries and prefer to set trends, then here are some qualities you may want to add to your repertoire.

Have a clear vision

For the most part, what sets you apart is that you are able to see concepts that have not yet been realized. Whereas others follow theories or abstract ideas, you are able to visualize how a project should be developed and exactly how it is going to play out.

Stand out

Because the innovator is not just another sheep, do not shy away from extra attention. If your ideas make you conspicuous, embrace the spotlight and do not be afraid to add your input and mold a venture into your own.

Be debonair

As a trendsetter, you will not be reprimanded for implementing your own sense of style. In your case, eccentricity is almost favored. Make a point to be suave and impose your rhythm. Do not worry; most people realize that innovation does not come prepackaged and standardized.

Have an attitude

By the same token, do not conceal your assertive energy; display your confidence. Your positive attitude will make colleagues accept your ideas and agree to implement them. Fight for your beliefs.

Know the trends

You ca not charge into the future without being aware of the past. Modern artists have studied the classics and so should you. Stay up-to-date on former and current trends and you will likely be able to forecast future styles.

keep your head!

No matter what personality you associate yourself with, if you want to be convincing, you must thoroughly fill those shoes, exemplify the behavior, and be ready to deliver the goods. You need substance to back up the image; no one can be all show and no tell, not even the trendsetter.

Redmond, WA. ? WildTangent, Inc., the leading provider of enabling technology and services for online games, and BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS) announced today the launch of BellSouth? FastAccess? DSL Racing. FastAccess DSL Racing, built by WildTangent for BellSouth, delivers a fast-action, online gaming experience that entertains and educates consumers on the benefits of high-speed Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology.

?BellSouth is tapping the power of next-generation AdverGaming to capture the attention of online consumers by integrating brand elements into an exciting and fun online game that can be shared with family and friends through consumer ?word-of-mouse? influence,? said Randy Kinkaid, senior director of Consumer Broadband Sales and Marketing for BellSouth. ?We?re able to capture consumers? attention by providing an engaging brand experience through an entertaining online game that is above and beyond the traditional one-way advertising message. The average game last eight minutes, which far exceeds the time anyone will watch or read more traditional advertising.?

The free game, which can be played over any Internet connection, is available at www.dsl-playground.com/game. In the game, players customize their own virtual stock cars and race to complete two laps while collecting as many Race Credits as possible. Race Credits can then be spent in the FastAccess SpeedShop to upgrade a car?s engine, tires and turbo for better car performance.

?FastAcess DSL Racing provides a great gaming and educational experience for consumers that also doubles as a flourishing marketing campaign and builds a community of players,? said Dave Madden, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing for WildTangent. ?We also seamlessly integrated BellSouth FastAccess DSL branding and key messages about the service into all aspects of the game from design, to the car and signage around the race course.?
Players are further challenged by the presence of Dial-Up Potholes and Cable Modem Speedbumps that slow players? cars down in the game. After racing, players can post their best race times to the FastAccess DSL Racing Leader Board and also send email challenges to friends and family to beat their best scores. There are links throughout the site that take players to www.fastaccess.com to learn more about the features and benefits of BellSouth FastAccess DSL service including service availability and ordering information.

BellSouth FastAccess DSL provides speeds up to 50 times faster than a 28.8k dial-up connection (actual speeds may vary). Large files such as audio clips, videos and research documents can be downloaded or transferred in seconds rather than minutes. Also, users can talk on the telephone and surf the Internet at the same time, on the same phone line, at download speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps and upload speeds up to 256 Kbps.

Consumers who sign up for BellSouth FastAccess DSL Service before December 31 pay just $19.95 a month with BellSouth AnswersSM (with the BellSouth Complete Choice plan) or $23.90 a month for non-BellSouth Answers customers, for the first three months and receive a free modem with mail-in rebate and a 12-month commitment. The service is $49.95 per month after the first three months or just $45 per month for Complete Choice plan customers.

BellSouth Internet Services recently launched the Game Vault, where subscribers can play free demo versions of action, puzzle, sports and arcade games, including the popular Blasterball 2 and Blackhawk Striker. If they enjoy the games, they can choose to buy and download the full versions directly from the BellSouth Internet Services web page. Prices for the games range from $9.99 to $19.99. New WildTangent games, including upcoming fall releases, will be added as they become available.
